UG Postdoctoral Research Fellowships under the BSU Phase III programme Application

The Office of Research, Innovation and Development is pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified, and highly motivated individuals to apply for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships under the BSU Phase III programme University of Ghana.

The selected candidate(s) will be engaged to undertake high-quality research within the setting of an internationally competitive, thematically-focused research group. The Fellowship is tenable at the University of Ghana with Research stays in Denmark.

Research Thematic Areas:

  • Malaria Research: (Malaria and haemoglobinopathies)
  • Climate Change Research: (Climate change adaptation and mitigation)

 

Eligibility:

  • A suitable PhD degree or equivalent
  • Excellent academic
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursue an academic
  • Be at an early stage (aged 45 years or below, or obtained PhD not more than 5 years at the time of application) of academic

 

For the malaria research theme, potential applicants are expected to hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant Biomedical/ Para-clinical science discipline.

A primary medical degree (MBChB, MBBS, MD) or equivalent qualification – in addition to the PhD degree specified above, will be an added advantage.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to conduct high quality research as part of an internationally competitive research group comprising senior researchers and postgraduate students both at University of Ghana and Danish Universities. The scope of work will include developing research proposals,  support to postgraduate student in areas such as research design, field/clinical research and writing, and submitting manuscripts for publication – under the supervision of senior academic researchers.

 

Application Requirements

  • A completed application form (i.e. BSU-3-PostDoc/2018);
  • A complete academic CV;
  • Copies of relevant academic and professional certificates;
  • A statement outlining how the applicant intends to utilize the fellowship to enhance his/her research and publishing output;
  • A 3-page (max.) research proposal, clearly outlining the background, objectives, scope and methodology within the broad thematic area
  • Two reference letters
