We are glad to inform the general public and especially all prospective students that the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana Master of Arts (Communication and Media Studies) Programmes Admissions application form is out for 2016/2017 Academic year.
NATURE OF PROGRAMME
The programme will be facilitated through a mix of classroom-based instruction, real life-based simulations and guest lecture series. A project will be written at the end of the programme and must be submitted before one can graduate.
The management of University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana is using this medium to invite application from suitably qualified applicants to pursue a one year Master of Arts (Communication and Media Studies) programme on Sandwich basis. The programmes are offered by the Department of Communication and Media Studies.
UEW Master of Arts – Sandwich Programmes
There will be three (3) programmes:
- Master of Arts (Communication and Media Studies) Business Communication option
Students graduating from this track are enabled to function in academic as well as non -academic institutions as advertising and public relations experts. Their combined knowledge in public relations and advertising is particularly useful in their image-management roles.
- Master of Arts (Communication and Media Studies) Media Studies option
Graduates of this track will function as media practitioners. The combination of both print and electronic media courses in their training will enable them function in a more versatile and holistic way in the media, harnessing the needs and resources of each as and when necessary. They will also be enabled to conduct research into the media and media related aspect of society.
- Master of Arts (Communication and Media Studies) Communication Skills option
Graduates of this track will function as effective teachers of Communication Skills and related courses in tertiary institutions. They are also enabled to conduct investigations into writing and reading in our educational system and help offer solutions to problems in those aspects of language use.
UEW Master of Arts – Sandwich Entry Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into this programme:
(i) Must have obtained a good first degree (at least Second Class Lower) in any discipline from a recognized university.
(ii) Will be expected to write an entrance exam and attend an interview
(iii) Should have completed national service.
UEW Master of Arts – Sandwich Duration of Programme
The programme is for one year undertaken during two sandwich sessions, June to July. Each sandwich session is 8 weeks long.
